October 1,1798.  Their son, Jean Baptiste, married Francois Dumas in St Ours, PQ October 7, 1822.  This union of Plouffe-Dumas had a son, Jean Baptiste, who would become your grandfather and my great grandfather.  This same Jean Baptiste married Marceline Guertin in ST June, PQ January 21, 1850.  Their first born, Jean Baptiste, was the old gentleman that lived with us in his later years.  He died with us and is buried in the family lot in Holy Rosary and St Mary's Cemetery in Spencer, You may remember he had two sons, John, (Jean Baptiste) and Arthur.  John at one time was president of the Lewiston, Maine Gas Co.  He died in California and had made arrangements to have his ashes sent to East Brookfield without our knowledge.  He is buried in our family lot in Evergreen Cemetery here in East Brookfield.  Arthur, the other son, lived in Brockton and when the family spoke of him, he was known as "Cabbage".  To get back to the Plouffe-Guertin marriage, following Jean Baptiste's birth they had a daughter, Marceline, born December 21, 1851.  Eighteen days later, January 8, 1852, her mother died.  The young widower with his two children was living in St Barnabe.</div> <bR> <div> It was in St Barnabe that he met the daughter, Marie Sophie, of Thedule Fecteau and Genevieve Champigny dit Deslande.  She was born in St Antoine, PQ July 5, 1826. Jean Baptiste and Marie Sophie were married in the parish of St Barnabe on the bride's twenty-seventh birthday, July 5, 1853.  Father A. Hardy conducted the marriage ceremony and the witnesses were Jean Baptiste Plouffe, the groom's father, Louis Lanqelier, Thedule Fecteau, the bride's father, Louis Sympson and several others.</div> <bR> <div> Their first child was Joseph, born May 1, 1854.  Louis was born June 2, 1855 and Edmund was born March 9, 1857. You remember Edmund was Mabel McNeil's father in Whitman.
